The Osun APC Media Cluster has congratulated the government and people of Osun State on the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state, describing the milestone as a celebration of resilience, unity and peaceful coexistence among its citizens.
The group, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Hon. Olufunsho Fagbohungbe (GFOD), said the anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on Osun’s journey since its creation on August 27, 1991, while acknowledging the contributions of its people to the growth and development of the state.
The Cluster commended Osun residents for their resilience and commitment to peace despite the political, economic and social challenges experienced by the state over the past 35 years.
It stressed that the strength of Osun extends beyond its rich cultural heritage, intellectual resources and historical significance, noting that the ability of its people to accommodate differences and pursue common aspirations remains one of the state’s greatest assets.
The APC Media Cluster also highlighted the contributions of distinguished sons and daughters of Osun to Nigeria’s development in various fields, including politics, governance, academia, business, religion, traditional institutions and entertainment.
The group called on citizens, political leaders and other stakeholders to continue promoting peace, tolerance, justice and responsible citizenship.
According to the Cluster, sustainable development can only be achieved in an atmosphere where citizens respect one another and work collectively for the common good.
“Osun at 35 is a story of resilience, perseverance and the enduring strength of our people. Despite the challenges we have faced as a state, our people have continued to demonstrate remarkable courage and an unwavering commitment to the progress of our dear state,” the statement said.
The group further urged political actors to place the interests of Osun above personal and partisan considerations, advocating constructive engagement and responsible political participation.
It expressed optimism that the state would achieve greater development through purposeful leadership, active citizen participation, economic growth and collective responsibility.
The Osun APC Media Cluster subsequently wished Osun citizens at home and in the diaspora a happy 35th anniversary, while reaffirming its commitment to responsible media advocacy in support of peace, unity, progress and development across the state.
