Calvary Baptist Schools, Ilesa, has commenced activities marking its 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of providing affordable, high-standard Christian education to families in Ilesa and its environs.
Speaking at a press conference held to herald the anniversary, the Pioneer Proprietor of the school, Rev. Dr. J. O. Olatunji, described the 20-year journey as a testimony of God’s faithfulness, vision, faith, sacrifice and growth.
Speaking on the anniversary theme, “From Vision to Legacy: Twenty Years of Christian Mission in Transformational Education,” Dr. Olatunji said the school was established with a mission that went beyond producing pupils who could simply pass examinations.
According to him, the vision was to raise disciplined, morally upright and useful members of society, with education firmly rooted in Christian values.
He explained that one of the distinguishing features of Calvary Baptist Schools is its strong Christian foundation, where academic learning is complemented by values such as honesty, compassion, discipline and service.
The proprietor stressed that the school places considerable emphasis on character development, with pupils encouraged to demonstrate integrity, respect, responsibility and leadership both within and outside the classroom.
“The real product of education is not simply a report sheet. The real product is a transformed human being,” Dr. Olatunji said.
He noted that over the past two decades, Calvary Baptist Schools had demonstrated that quality education could remain affordable, while maintaining high academic standards, qualified teachers and a serene learning environment within the reach of average parents in Ilesa.
According to him, the school’s journey over the years has seen many pupils progress from timid children to confident graduates, professionals and responsible parents.
He said the transformation of the students remained one of the most rewarding aspects of the school’s 20-year journey.
The anniversary press conference was attended by members of Calvary Baptist Church, past and present members of the Board of Directors, management and staff of the school, alumni, parents and other distinguished guests.
The anniversary celebration continues with a series of activities lined up to commemorate two decades of the school’s Christian mission in education.
The milestone also provides an opportunity for the school community to reflect on its journey from its founding vision to the legacy it is building in the field of transformational education in Ilesa.
