Welcome to our live coverage of the screening of the 9 Commissioners/Special Advisers-designate slated for today.
The screening that started on Monday 30/9/19 is holding at the Chamber of the State of Osun House of Assembly at Osogbo.
The State governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola had earlier sent the names of 35 nominees on Tuesday 24th September 2019.
The Osun House Of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has fixed the following dates and nominees for the screening.
Monday 30th September, Wednesday 2nd,Friday 4th and Monday 7th of October, 2019.
Ahead of the screening and possible confirmation of the Osun commissioner and special adviser nominees, the State of Osun House of Assembly has come out with names of 9 persons that are expected to appear before it today 4/10/19.
The nominees are:
1. Bakare Akande Akeem
2. Olayemi Jamie Babatunde
3. Olawale Babatunde Olumide
4. Olaniyan Hussein Toke
5. Oyebamiji Bola
6. Badmus Olalekan Rahman
7. Lawal Azees Olayemi
8. Giwa Latifat Abiodun
9. Akeju Taiwo Sadrak

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye entered the chamber of the House of Assembly.
He gave special recognition to the presence of Sen. Ajibola Basiru, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, Comrade Amitolou Shitu and some other past honourable members that were present.

Nominee, Bakare Akande Aleem from Ifeodan in Ejigbo State Constituency appeared. He is a practicing farmer aged 61and was a member of the 4th Assembly (elected 2007). He was described as a great party mobilizer.
Responding briefly to a question on agriculture, he described it as the key that will open way to posterity in Nigeria and opined that Thailand rice planting technology can be adopted in Nigeria.

The appearance of Olaniyan Hussein Toke, an accomplished development engineer and the current chairman of Iragbiji Development Association.
The Speaker acknowledged him as an elderly person, he therefore advised him to make his experience available at the cabinet and to always stand by the truth.

The appearance of Engr. Badmus Olalekan (Omo Oloore) from Osogbo. He was advised by the speaker never to let position as a cabinet member change his behaviour as he enjoyed the honor of "taking a bow and go" because of the influence of Osogbo State Constituency at the Osun 2018 governorship election.
(The screening exercise was paused until after the Muslim Jumat prayer).

Appearance of Mr. Bola Oyebamiji a graduate of Banking and Finance and current Supervisor of the Ministry of Finance, also the immediate past commissioner of Finance in the state.
In his presentation, he described how he met the Osun Investment Company (now Omoluwabi Holdings) in a moribund position and turned its fortune around by restructuring it.
Hon. Babatunde Ibirogba described him as a technocrat per excellence and a politician of note that is given to prudent management of resources.
Hon. Olatunji from Ife North reiterated that the State of Osun is blessed with great minds pointing to the nominee as a man that has demonstrated goodwill by leaving a mark at the financial sector. "He has done so well to show that we needed creativity. He will build on the existing legacy. We will be very proud to see him continue" He submitted.
Hon. Desmond Babatunde Ojo towed the line of his honourable colleagues but asked him to explain what the nominee would do differently if he happens to find himself as the commissioner for finance again.
Responding, he highlighted those things that the State administration is currently doing differently. He pinpointed restructuring the state's finance management through consolidation of all the accounts by adoption of the single Treasury Account policy. He also talked extensively on how the finance department is working relentlessly to develop the state's IGR which has increased to between N750m to 900m. He concluded by mentioning the efforts of his department on managing the state's debt portfolio.

Appearance of Alhaja Lateefat Giwa, an Insurance consultant from Ede who has featured in the state's administration as Special Assistant on Education and immediate past commissioner for Women Affairs.

The appearance of Olawole Babatunde Olumide an Information Technologist and also a lecturer at the State of Osun Polytechnic, Iree. He the son of Oba Akirun of Ikirun.
Addressing the nominee, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye said; "We may not know you but we know your father who has done a lot for the progressive party. During the turbulent period, he stood out as a strong pillar. Any honor given to you is not for you but for the great monarch."

Appearance of Mr. Jamiu Babatunde Olawumi, a journalist from Ife Central.
He was described as a committed party man who holds tennently to any cause he believes in.

Appearance of Lawal Olayemi an entrepreneur that studied Demography and Statistics. He was the Deputy Governor candidate of the SDP at the last Osun governorship election.
