The demand of Ijesa peopl;e for a modern market has finally received the attention of the administration of Governor Goyega Oyetola as construction machinery has moved to the market for demolition grading of the part of the market that will witness the construction of the first 400 stalls under the first phase of the Atakumosa Market reconstruction project.

Recall that on Thursday 11th June, 2020, the Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye led a team of the State's ministry of Works and Transport and representatives of Osun Community and Social Development Program (CSDP) on a tour of the market.

The World Bank and Osun State Government are collaborating on the reconstruction of the ancient market that has trice witnessed fire incidents.
The phase one of the project is expected to be completed by December, 2020 as the funds have been made available. Governor Gboyega Oyetola is expected in Ilesa on Tuesday 4th August, 2020 for the turning of the sod.

Present at the market to witness the demolition and grading of area for the phase 1 are leaders of Ijesa South all Progressives Congress (APC) leaders that included Leader Kunle Odeyemi, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, Hon. Idowu Korede, Hon. Idowu Falade, Hon. Gboyega Ajeleti, Council Chairmen; Hon. Adeniyi Oladipo, Hon. Folarin Fafowora, Hon. Femi Kujembola, Hon. Busuyi Makanjuola, Hon. Nuru Giwa among others.
The CSDP Director in Osun State, Mrs. Funmi Abokede was also in attendance.
