Osun Lawmaker donates N3 Million to Assist Community Electrification Project

Landlords and other residents of Oke Ibukun/Stadium community of Ilesa East Local Government Area have showered appreciation and prayers on Hon. Wale Adedoyin a.k.a Eyiyato, the honourable representing Ilesa West State Constituency and Chairman of State of Osun House of Assembly Committee on Rural Affairs and Community Development, for the role he played in facilitating the installation and powering of a new transformer in the community.

It was gathered that the transformer had been purchased by the community for about two years but did not function since then due to lack of funds needed for the installation process which included purchase and coupling of all accessory equipment, wiring and cable connections of the transformer to the main power grid.

In a bid to finance the installation, the community chieftains met with several philanthropists for support. In the process, the landlords’ association approached Hon. Wale Adedoyin who then took it upon himself to fund the entire installation process with over three million naira.

Speaking at the event where the honourable led other dignitaries to commission the new transformer on Saturday 9th January, 2021, the chairman of the community landlords’ and tenants association, Alhaji Jimoh Oladosu praised the state parliamentarian for the notable actions he took in ensuring that the new transformer is installed for use of the community.

In his appreciation remarks, he stated that “although many people contributed towards the purchase of the transformer, Hon. Adedoyin played a huge role in ensuring that the transformer is installed. He was there with us through the difficult steps of meeting important stakeholders and donated heavily to make this day a reality.”

While describing the importance of the new transformer to the community, Alhaji Oladosu further explained that the feat is long overdue, citing the progressive expansion of the community which had overpowered the capacity of the existing transformer. “The installation of this new transformer means that our community will no longer experience epileptic power supply”, he said.

Hon. Wale Adedoyin, thanked the executives and members of the community for their patience during the time of facilitating the installation. He noted that “effective electrification and stable power supply are necessary factors for community development and urbanisation, and it is good that Oke Ibukun/Stadium community is being transformed gradually.”

Continuing, he expressed his commitment to ensuring the development of the community as well as other communities in the society in ways within his capacity. He stated that “it is always my interest to see good things like this happen, and that is why I do my best to support such initiatives. Residents of this community did a good job towards the purchase of the transformer. I therefore found it compelling to do everything I could to ensure that the transformer is eventually installed against all odds.”
