Osun Minority leader a first timer, still learning the rudiments of lawmaking.

It has come to the attention of the Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Timothy Owoeye the allegations raised against his person by the Minority leader of the Assembly, Hon. Kofofoworola Adewunmi in an interview he granted an online Medium recently.

We would have let it slide but it will not be appropriate to allow the misgivings to sink in the hearts of our good people of Osun irespective of our political affiliations.

Let me reiterate that the Speaker State of Osun House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Timothy Owoeye will always take the well being of his colleagues to heart, he has spelt it out at different fora that the House is State of Osun House of Assembly and not APC House of Assembly, Owoeye is committed to that statement.

On the issue of budget signing, all the principal officers of the Assembly present graced the occasion without let or hindrance, after the ceremony, everyone departed to their various personal destinations.

For every private member sponsored bill, it is the tradition of the House to send such bill to the Legal/bill drafting department in the Assembly to collaborate with state ministry of Justice to ensure that we are not duplicating laws. The Legal/bill drafting department and the ministry will have to satify it for it to go through the normal process on the floor of the Assembly.

One wonders if the Minority leader is abreast of happenings in his home town or probably playing politics with the issue of road. It is in the news when Governor Oyetola inaugurated 20km Ejigbo-Ara-Ojo-Ede road; 2.1km Ede township roads.

It would be recalled that the Timi of Ede during the commissioning of the above mentioned road commended the Governor.

In Timi's words, "The entirety of Ede has sent me to thank you for this great favour that we have received from you, we wish you peace in your government, strength and good health..... once a government is performing and spreading the dividends of democracy, there is no point to contemplate changing such government."

It should be put on record that the House as a whole had met with the governor on different occasions with the opposition members in attendance.

No country of the world is exempted from recent economic downturn, our state is having her fair share of this too, the economic situation of the state demands that we should be patient with the system to first attend to the needs of the people of Osun and in due course our furniture allowance shall be paid. It should be on record that the state government had at no time withhold the entitlements of the lawmakers.

The governor had at all times made the welfare of lawmakers priority.

We are in a democratic dispensation, so the Speaker will take all that was said in good stride but we must be fair at all times in our dealings.

The Minority leader as a first timer is still learning and will soon understand to the fullest the procedures of law making, the 7th Assembly under the watch of Owoeye will be more committed to training and retraining in this new year for efficiency and proper understanding of legislative processes.
