Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education have expressed delight over the standard and quality of projects met on ground in the area of basic education in the State of Osun.
Speaking at the state bouquet hall in Osogbo, the Deputy Chairman , House of Representatives committee on Basic Education, Hon Usman Zanna (APC Borno state) eulogized the present administration in the state of Osun under the leadership of governor Adegboyega Oyetola on the promotion of basic education in the state.
Zanna, 0the leader of the delegation of the committee to the State of Osun on oversight visit to inspect and assess the level of utilization of Federal Government's matching grant released stated that the provision of infrastructure and instructional materials alongside training cum capacity building for teachers have in no measure helped in the provision of quality and standard basic education in the state.
The federal law maker said his committee was amazed about the various school projects they met on ground during their inspections to schools in both urban and rural areas .
On behalf of his committee , he urged other states in the country to follow the Osun giant strides in the area of basic education.
Receiving the delegation , Governor of the state of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola appreciated the Honorable members of the Federal House of Assembly and UBEC House committee .
Mr Oyetola particularly lauded their support in the provision of what it takes to enjoy good and standard education in the state . He, however, implored UBEC not to relent on its efforts especially on accessibility to funds such that states in Nigeria will continue to do more in the education sector.
Governor Oyetola said his administration will not relent on it efforts at proving standard education to the people of the state, tressing that it will continue to strive hard on the construction of standard school buildings with modern facilities, training workshops and seminars for teachers, provision of foods for home grown school children, provision of instructional materials and prompt payment of teachers' salaries for effective teaching and learning processes in the state.
Earlier In his speech, the law maker representing Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu and Irepodun in the House Reps, Hon Bukola Oyewo, also eulogized the state of Osun for being a pacesetter for other states in Nigeria on the implementation of all the laudable objectives of UBEC by the Federal Government.
In his speech ,the Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, on behalf of the board members and Executive Secretary ,Mr Adeoye Bakare appreciated the state governor for the opportunity to serve.
He similarly thanked and commended the team.
The SUBEB Boss, however , urged contractors to avoid shoddy jobs.
