As the times are really changing since we find ourselves in the era of paucity of fund, only what we achieve by our sweat and efforts will endure and this is the biggest challenge facing contemporary Ijesaland development.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Asiwaju of Ijesaland while speaking during the commissioning of a multi million Naira ultra modern entrance gate of Ijesa Sports Club held in Ilesa on Saturday made the clarion call on the clubs members to take bold steps as he highlighted the benefits already accrued to Ijesaland from the strategic self-help intervention.
"Today we are demonstrating the legacy that our forefathers bequeathed to us. We have demonstrated through the Owa Adimula Palace that is the most beautiful palace in Nigeria today, that we Ijesa can take our destiny in our hands.
Appreciating the concerted efforts Ijesa sons and daughters towards the realization of Ijesaland Geriatric Centre, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi eulogised Ijesa Sports Club as one of the major contributors to the project that is the second of its type in Nigeria and the biggest in West Africa. " When we were looking for N300m but at the end of the day through leadership, transparency and accountability we realized N674m." He said.
In his welcome address, Prince Adebusuyi Arimoro, the President of the Ijesa Sports Club remarked that the commissioning of the ultra-modern car park and gate has turned the fortunes of the club around and made the club to take her rightful position in the committee of clubs in ijesaland.
"As a foremost club in Ijesaland we the present executive swung into action upon election determined to erect a first class gate that will rival other club gates in Nigeria, hence I made a passionate appeal during our investiture ceremony on 19th of March 2022, coincidentally the gate is being commissioned today 19th November 2022, exactly eight months after the appeal was made. We have earlier carried our the total restructuring of the car park we inherited on assumption of office." He said as he appreciated the commitment and dedication of Bamoofin Mayegun Bunmi Adeoye who championed the commencement of the project.
The project ultra modern entrance gate named after Bamoofin Mayegun Bunmi Adeoye was financed from the money realized from donations during 2022 investiture, club members annual dues paid and two other members of the club that personally contributed to see that the project is completed on time.
Other highlights of the commissioning ceremony included the induction of new club members and fund raising for some projects such as installation of solar panels to reduce our expenses on fuelling, installation of CCTV cameras, installation of digital entrance card for financial members and epainting of all the club buildings as well as refurbishing of some of the dilapidated structures.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion include members of Ibadan recreation club and Osogbo Sports Club.
