ILESA WATER PROJECT: IJESA LEADERS PASSIONATELY TASK ADELEKE TO COMPLETE PROJECT...READ FULL TEXT OF THEIR EXPRESSED FEAR IN A LETTER






Eminent Ijesa community leaders made up elites spread all over communities, clubs and societies in all the six local government areas of Ijesaland  have appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to complete the Ilesa Water Project.


They said that the Federal Government component of the project to generate 6,000 cubic meters daily of potable and healthy water to the residents of Ilesa has been completed and the only component remaining is the WATER TREATMENT PLANT which is the responsibility of the State Government of Osun State.


The leaders, that included Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Akinwande Akinola, Sawe of Ilesa, Prof. Olu Obi, Chairman Egbe Atunluse Ile Ijesa, Prof. Yemi Kayode-Adedeji, Past President, Egbe Atunluse Ile Ijesa, Prince Gbenga Lufadeju, Director General, Ijesa Felates Club, Dr. Biodun Ogunbeku, Deputy Director General, Ijesa Felates Club, Engr. Yemi Oguntominiyi, President, Roots Club of Ijesaland, Prince Kayode Arimoro, President, Ijesa Sports Club, Engr. Busayo Aluko, President, Ijesa Progressive Circle, Chief Olu Falomo, Loofosan of Ilesa and Mr. Supo Shadiya, President, Ijesa Development Council (IDC) had  earlier congratulated Gov. Adeleke in a letter on his electoral victory dated 9th May, 2023 where they assured that Ijesa people would continue to give the Governor their support.

Sequel to our earlier congratulatory letter on your electoral victory dated 9th May, 2023, we once again heartily felicitate with our dear Excellency on the uphold of your electoral victory by the Supreme Court of Nigeria and consequently upholding the voice of the great people of Osun State.


PROJECT HISTORY:


Seventy-one years ago, the dream and visions to expand public water supply to the political, geographical, cultural, and business headquarters of Ijesaland, Ilesa started.


Under different project names, the Ilesa Water Project has transited from one Administration to the other with different interventions ranging from State to Federal, and to International Financial Institutions have been engaged over the decades.


For instance, the Administration of Chief Bola Ige between 1979 and 1983 in the Old Oyo State played its part under Ilesa-Ejigbo Water Project; in 2006 the Federal Administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo assisted the State Government Administration of Prince Oyinlola/Erelu Agbeja-Obada with the construction of Kajola raw water dam; Erelu Olusola Agbeja-Obada also leveraged on her position as Minister rof Defence under Federal Administration of President Jonathan and support of the then Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochepe to re-award the Federal component of the Water Project; the Islamic Bank of Saudi Arabia assisted the State Government Administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in commencing with the various components in the project; the Federal Government of President Buhari further complimented the State Government Administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola with release to the State from the recovery made from Abacha loot to Nigeria; the State Government Administration of Mr Gboyega Oyetola completed the reticulation component and laying of the water pipes started by the Administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; and now the incumbent State Government Administration of Governor Senator Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke is in the saddle from Sunday, 28th November 2022 and history beckons on him to complete the race.


STATE OF THE WATER PROJECT


Our investigation has revealed that the Federal Government component of this long-envisioned project to generate 6,000 cubic meters daily of potable and healthy water to the residents of Ilesa has been completed.


According to our findings, the only component remaining for the people of and residents of Ilesa to have unfettered access to potable water and healthy living is the WATER TREATMENT PLANT which is the responsibility of the State Government of Osun State.
