Mewolaka Faces Legal Action Over Defamatory Posts, Threats To Life

A political commentator and publisher of City Express News, Taiwo Olaore, has initiated legal proceedings against a social media influencer and controversial marriage counseller, Omolara Fasakin, popularly called Mewolaka, demanding a public apology and retraction of defamatory statements made against the publisher on Facebook.

Olaore, like many commenters on Mewolaka’s Facebook post, had accused the marriage counsellor of using her social media presence to falsely launder the image of Governor Ademola Adeleke by propagating half-truths and misinformation about the achievement of the Osun state government.

But rather than substantiating her claims with verifiable evidence as demanded by other Facebook users, Mewolaka was said to have hurled curses and abuses on Olaore, calling him and other members of Osun APC animals and scavengers.

According to a letter of demand issued by Olaore’s legal counsel, Muyiwa Okedoye & Associates, Mewolaka launched a vicious online attack on January 21, 2025, accusing Olaore of being a “miserable personality,” a “beggar,” and a loafer.

Mewolaka was said to have maintained that Olaore begged her for N20,000 support to take care of his family, a claim Olaore had dispelled, describing it as a malicious attempt to embarrass him and impugn his reputation.

The letter alleges that Mewolaka’s attacks went beyond mere insults, but included personal attacks on Olaore’s family and insinuations about his financial struggles. The alleged defamatory statements, deemed to be without any factual basis, have caused significant distress to Olaore and his family.

The legal action further claims that Mewolaka escalated the matter by making threatening phone calls to Olaore. These threats, according to the letter, included intimidation by “demonically motivated touts and thugs” acting on Mewolaka’s orders.

Olaore’s legal team has given Mewolaka 24 hours to issue a public apology and retract the defamatory statements on her Facebook page, hinting that failure to comply with this demand will result in further legal action, including potential criminal charges.
