The Ijesa Elders Forum under the Chairmanship of Chief Akinwande Akinola, the Sawe of Ilesa on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to His Imperial Majesty Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, Owa Obokun Adimula, the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland at the Ogboni quarters located at Ereja, Ilesa, Osun State where they felicitated with the new Owa on his enthronement.
This is coming just as the Vice Chairman of the forum, Prof. Rotimi Tayo prayed that Oba Haastrup’s reign will usher in peace and progress in Ijesaland.
In his presentation of various interventions of the forum to Owa Ajimoko III, Chief Akinwande Akinola mentioned the renovation of the Obokungbusi Town Hall, engaging 10 medical personnel, including surgeons from different specialities at its annual comprehensive community medical outreach; the proposed University of Ilesa Entrance Gate for which the forum has set aside a whooping N50m, that the project is being delayed because of the dualization of the entrance road into the campus; rebranding the Iwude Ijesa festival which was spearheaded by the forum as Chief Akinwande Akinola himself was the maiden Chairman of the festival's planning committee; and annual get-together forum day.
In his response Owa Ajimoko III could not hide his appreciation of various interventions embarked towards the development of Ijesaland by the forum and he promised his support in no little way during his reign as he informed that at his coronation ceremony, he will be unveiling his Developmental Agenda that will cut across all the six local government areas of Ijesaland tailored towards agro industry.
A compendium of useful information about members and activities of the forum was later presented to the royal father.
Members of the forum in attendance included Barr. Dosu Babatunde, Lady Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, Alagba Wale Idowu, Mr. Akin Ajayi-Obe, Chief Mrs Yemisi Ariyibi, Engr. Yemi Oguntominiyi, Mr. Akintoye Omole, Mr. Duro Arogundade and Hon. Wale Adedoyin.
