In a grand display of majesty and reverence, the Diocese of Ilesa warmly welcomed the illustrious Owa Ajimoko III, His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Hasstrup, the revered Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, to the magnificent Ilesa Anglican Heritage City. The Diocesan, the Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo F. Asaju, and dignitaries of Ilesa Diocese received the monarch with great fanfare and enthusiasm.
As the monarch arrived, students and staff of Archbishop Humphrey Olumakaiye College assembled in the city center, their voices raised in joyful songs and drums, hailing the royal presence. The Provost of the Cathedral Church of St. John, Very Rev. Akintunde Morakinyo Fademi, led the opening prayer, setting the tone for a momentous occasion.
The Diocesan, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo F. Asaju, regaled the gathering with the remarkable story of how the Heritage City came into being, highlighting the astonishing progress made in just three short years. With Joy, he showcased the city's breathtaking developments, including a state-of-the-art radio station, a cutting-edge hospital, luxurious guest houses, and more.
The Owa Ajimoko III beamed with delight at the rapid transformation, attributing it to divine intervention. He lavished praise on the Diocesan's visionary leadership and innovative achievements, pledging his full support for the project. In a surprise announcement, the Diocesan appointed the monarch as the Chancellor of the proposed Anglican Heritage University.
In a heartfelt appeal, Sir Chief Kunle Odeyemi, donor of the Kunle Odeyemi Indoor Sports Hall, urged the monarch to ensure the Diocesan's legacy remains in Ijesaland, citing his unparalleled vision and leadership.
The grand ceremony culminated in a tour of the Heritage City, memorable group pictures, and the monarch's dignified departure, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who witnessed this historic encounter.
Also present to witness the memorable event were Sir Yemi Oguntominiyi and wife, lady Comfort Oguntominiyi.
