The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of running what it described as a “nepotistic and irresponsible government” allegedly skewed in favour of his hometown, Ede.
In a press statement dated February 28, 2026, and signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the opposition party criticised the governor’s style of governance, alleging that his administration has been marked by what it termed “a barrage of misinformation” and unfulfilled promises.
The statement referenced a recent Executive Council meeting reportedly held by the governor, during which he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development and announced fresh directives, including the recruitment of teachers. The APC, however, described the promises as repetitive, alleging that similar commitments had been made in the past without tangible outcomes.
Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying, “As the governor of this state, I serve only one interest — the aspiration of Osun people for development.” The APC challenged the assertion, arguing that developmental projects across the state do not reflect such a statewide focus.
According to the opposition party, the administration has concentrated major infrastructure projects in Ede, particularly in Ede, which comprises Ede North and Ede South local government areas. The APC listed several road projects allegedly prioritised in the area, including routes linking Awo Junction, Ara Junction, Ido-Osun, Abere, and Akoda Junction to Ede, claiming many of them have been dualised or are undergoing rapid construction.
The party further alleged that while these projects are ongoing in Ede, other parts of the state — including Osogbo, the state capital — have not received comparable attention.
In addition, the APC accused the governor of proceeding with plans related to the proposed airport project in Ido-Osun, despite reported federal directives concerning its relocation. The party claimed that the state government is undertaking construction activities connected to the project in Ede, though it did not provide documentary evidence in the statement.
The opposition maintained that the current administration would be held accountable by voters in the 2026 governorship election. It expressed optimism that its candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, would emerge victorious and usher in what it described as a more inclusive and development-driven government.
As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government had not issued an official response to the allegations raised by the APC.
