Osun APC Denies Anointing Candidates for 2027 National, Assembly Elections

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims that the party has endorsed candidates for the 2027 National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections, describing the reports as false and misleading.

‎In a press statement issued on Monday, the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, cautioned party members against actions capable of disrupting the prevailing peace within the party, particularly as the state prepares for the forthcoming governorship election.

‎Lawal said it was wrong for some individuals to circulate rumours suggesting that the party leadership had already anointed candidates for the 2027 legislative elections. According to him, no meeting had been held at any time where such an agenda was discussed.

‎He urged members and supporters of the party to disregard what he described as misinformation and disinformation being spread to create confusion within the party.

‎The chairman stressed that the immediate priority of party members should be to mobilize support for the APC governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, and his running mate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, ahead of the upcoming governorship election in Osun State.

‎He warned that promoting unnecessary division and acrimony for personal interests would undermine the collective goal of the party to reclaim power in the state.

‎Lawal further reiterated that under his leadership, the party has not endorsed or anointed any aspirant for the National Assembly or State House of Assembly seats, describing the rumours as a deliberate attempt to destabilize the party.

‎He added that all aspirants should, for now, focus their efforts on ensuring victory for the APC governorship ticket, noting that success in the governorship election would lay the foundation for future electoral victories in the state.

‎The APC chairman expressed optimism that with the election of Oyebamiji as governor, the party would be better positioned to deliver improved governance and development for the people of Osun State.
