UN Women Nigeria has distanced itself from an event reportedly being organized by a group known as “Peace Ambassadors” and scheduled to hold at the UN House.

In a statement issued on Friday, the organization clarified that although it had prior engagement with the event organizers on certain aspects of the proposed programme, it neither approved nor was informed of any activities involving fundraising or the sale of awards linked to the event.

UN Women Nigeria said its attention was drawn to promotional materials circulating on social media suggesting its endorsement and featuring unauthorized use of its name and logo.

The agency categorically denied any involvement in such activities, stressing that it does not support fundraising, award sales, or related promotional efforts connected to the event.

According to the statement, the misuse of its identity violates the organization’s strict standards governing partnerships and the use of its name and logo, particularly where financial solicitation or commercial activities are involved.

UN Women Nigeria disclosed that it has formally demanded the immediate removal of all unauthorized references to the organization and is taking appropriate steps to address the situation.

The agency urged members of the public to rely solely on its official communication channels for accurate information about its programmes and partnerships.

It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rights and empowerment of women and girls through transparent, accountable, and ethical collaborations.

For media inquiries, the organization listed Anthony Abu and Oluoma Ali as contact persons.
