In a bid to ease economic hardship and boost grassroots development, the Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government Area, Olusegun Olabode, has facilitated the distribution of cash support to residents across the council.
The empowerment initiative benefited approximately 1,500 individuals, with each recipient receiving grants ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦100,000. Beneficiaries were drawn from various segments of the community, including artisans, traders, market women, commercial transport operators, elderly residents, and persons with disabilities, as well as selected political stakeholders.
The programme forms part of broader social welfare efforts aligned with the agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), aimed at stimulating small-scale economic activities and providing financial relief to households.
Speaking during the disbursement exercise, Hon. Olabode described the initiative as a reflection of ongoing efforts to strengthen local livelihoods. He urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously by investing in income-generating ventures and assured that similar interventions would be sustained.
He also called on residents to continue supporting the party’s developmental agenda and its gubernatorial candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
Also addressing participants, the Chairman of Ilesa West LCDA, Tobiloba Famurewa, commended residents for their active participation and encouraged continued support for government programmes and party initiatives.
Some beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing the financial assistance as timely and impactful in helping to grow their businesses and improve their standard of living.
The initiative was coordinated under the auspices of the Solidarity Network.
