In a symbolic display of respect, unity, and deep-rooted tradition, the newly confirmed beaded crown monarch of Imobi-Ijesa, Oba Jacob Adetayo Haastrup, on Thursday led a distinguished entourage on a courtesy visit to the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, at the revered Adimula Palace.
The visit came shortly after a landmark event at the Osun State Government Secretariat, where the Osun State Government formally completed the elevation process of the Olumobi, presenting him with his certificate of recognition as a beaded crown Oba.
A Moment of Fulfilment and Tradition
The atmosphere at the Adimula Palace was one of royal warmth and cultural significance as the Olumobi, accompanied by chiefs, family members, and loyal subjects, paid homage to the paramount ruler of Ijesaland. The visit underscored the enduring hierarchy and unity within the traditional institution, as well as the Olumobi’s loyalty to the Owa stool.
Receiving the entourage, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup congratulated the Olumobi on his well-deserved elevation, describing it as a testament to perseverance, leadership, and divine timing. He noted that the recognition would further strengthen traditional governance across Ijesaland and inspire accelerated development in Imobi-Ijesa.
Culmination of a Nine-Year Journey
Earlier in the day, history was made as the Osun State Government officially confirmed Oba Jacob Adetayo Haastrup as a beaded crown monarch—granting him the status of a Part II Oba with full rights to a staff of office.
The approval, ratified by the State Executive Council, brings to a close over nine years of his reign as the traditional head of Imobi-Ijessa in Atakumosa East.
The formal presentation of his certificate by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs marked the official completion of the long-anticipated elevation, firmly establishing his authority within the traditional leadership structure of Ijesaland.
Looking Ahead
With his elevation now fully sealed, the Olumobi’s visit to the Adimula Palace not only reflects respect for tradition but also signals a renewed commitment to unity, leadership, and development across Ijesaland.
As Imobi-Ijessa celebrates this historic milestone, expectations are high that the reign of Oba Jacob Adetayo Haastrup will usher in accelerated progress and enduring legacy for generations to come.
