Osun Govt Confirms Olumobi as Beaded Crown Oba After Nine Years... Receives Staff & Instrument of Office (Photos)

The Osun State Government has officially elevated the Olumobi of Imobi-Ijesa, Oba Dr. Jacob Adetayo Haastrup, to the status of a beaded crown monarch, recognising him as a Part II Oba with full rights to a staff of office.





‎The approval, ratified at a recent State Executive Council meeting, brings to a close over nine years of his reign as the traditional head of Imobi-Ijessa in Atakumosa East.



‎In a further development, the monarch formally received his staff of office and instrument of appointment, today, from Hon. Dosu Babatunde, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, at the Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, marking the official completion of his elevation process.






The event attracted traditional rulers from Atakumosa East and Oriade Local Governmet areas, friends and associates, including Olumolu of Imogbara is HRH Oba Bamidele Adeniji Adeyeye;  Oba Adeola Ilesanmi Lukerede the Onikajola of Kajola Bowaje-Ijesa , Atakumosa East




‎This development cements his status as a full-fledged traditional ruler in Ijesaland—a move widely regarded as a significant boost to traditional governance and grassroots development in the region.





‎Stakeholders across the community have described the decision as historic, signalling a new phase of growth and recognition for Imobi-Ijessa. Over the years, Oba Adetayo Haastrup has been credited with impactful developmental initiatives, including electrification projects in Temidire, installation of transformers, and construction of boreholes.



‎The recognition is also seen as a significant moment for the Bilaro and Ajimoko ruling houses, further strengthening their place within the traditional leadership structure.



‎Reacting to the elevation, the monarch expressed profound gratitude, describing it as “the hand of God” after years of perseverance. He also acknowledged the support of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, for his role in facilitating the recognition.






‎Notably, special mention has been made of Olori Dame Hon. Justice Rakiya Bosede Haastrup, revered as a strong pillar, encourager, and prayer warrior whose unwavering support has been instrumental throughout the journey.



Profile of the Monarch



‎Born on May 17, 1965, in Ilesa, Oba Haastrup hails from the Alaba family of the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House. He began his education at St. John’s ‘B’ Primary School, Iloro, and later attended Ifewara High School.



‎He obtained a National Certificate in Education from the then Oyo State College of Education, Ilesa (now the University of Ilesa), before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education (1991) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (1994) from the University of Ilorin. He later earned a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy Analysis from the University of Abuja in 2011.



‎A seasoned professional, Oba Haastrup is a fellow of several institutes, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, among others, and is a Certified Management Consultant.



‎He has held numerous leadership roles, including representing the Federal Government on the council of NIPR and serving on national committees under the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.



Community Service and Recognition



‎Oba Haastrup has played a key role in advancing community development across Ijesaland, contributing to projects such as the Ijesaland Geriatric Centre and various ICDA initiatives.



‎Installed as Olumobi in May 2016 by the late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, he has continued to distinguish himself through service, leadership, and commitment to development.



‎The confirmation of his beaded crown status—now formally sealed with the presentation of his certificate—is expected to further strengthen his leadership influence and accelerate development efforts in Imobi-Ijessa and surrounding communities.
