Osun APC Dismisses Viral Video, Affirms Ogunbiyi’s Loyalty Ahead of Elections

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a viral video allegedly portraying one of its senatorial aspirants, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, as expressing doubts about the party’s chances in the forthcoming governorship election.

In a press statement issued on April 18, 2026, and signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC accused members of the Accord Party of circulating a “twisted and misleading” version of the video to create disaffection within its ranks.

The party maintained that the clip, which has been widely shared on social media, was taken out of context and does not reflect Ogunbiyi’s true position. It described the insurance magnate and politician as a “credible, trusted and dependable chieftain” who remains committed to the party’s success.

According to the statement, Ogunbiyi’s remarks were made during a political meeting and have been deliberately misrepresented by opposition elements seeking to exploit the current political climate in the state.

The APC further alleged that the circulation of the video was part of a broader attempt by “frustrated political actors” to undermine the party’s unity and distract it from its campaign efforts ahead of the governorship election.

Reaffirming Ogunbiyi’s loyalty, the party noted that the Ile-Ogbo-born politician has consistently demonstrated dedication to the APC and its objectives since joining the progressive fold. It also emphasized his support for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and his willingness to work with other stakeholders to secure victory at the polls.

The statement questioned why those sharing the video failed to include portions where Ogunbiyi allegedly reiterated his commitment to the party and expressed confidence in its electoral prospects.

The APC urged its members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the circulating video, insisting that it is a deliberate distortion aimed at causing division within the party.

“The attempt to create confusion and orchestrate crisis within our party has failed,” the statement added, stressing that Ogunbiyi remains a loyal member who is fully aligned with the APC’s goals in Osun State.
