The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Osun State chapter, has inaugurated a new State Executive Council and Local Government coordinators, marking a transition in leadership.
The inauguration ceremony, held today, May 5, 2026, at the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Technology (CAFFTECH), Ijeda-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area, Osun State also featured the appreciation of Araokanmi who was recently elevated to a federal position as Ex-Officio and had earlier emerged as the National Organising Secretary of AFAN in Abuja, as he formally handed over the leadership of the Osun chapter to his deputy, Elder Idowu Fadare. The transition aligns with the association’s constitutional provision, which mandates the deputy chairman to assume office in the event of a vacancy.
Officials from the national body supervised the process, including Chief Adeyemi Tunde, National Youth Leader; Salisu Mukhtar from Kaduna State, National Organising Secretary; Ambassador Kabir M. Daubaba from Niger State, Assistant Secretary General; and Chief Ogunsanya Emiola Gabriel, a stakeholder from Osun State.
The transition was conducted without the appointment of a caretaker chairman, ensuring a smooth and constitutional handover from one executive to another.
Elder Idowu Fadare from Ife East Local Government Area was formally inaugurated as the new State Chairman, with Alhaji Rauf Okunade Adeyemo from Odo-Otin LGA emerging as Deputy Chairman.
Other members of the newly inaugurated executive include Olarewaju Adeoti as Vice Chairman (Arable), Alhaji Rabiu Akanmu as Vice Chairman (Tree and Crops), and Oyediran Adesubomi as Vice Chairman (Livestock). Adesoye Kayode A. was sworn in as Secretary, while Akin Bobby Otinson serves as Assistant Secretary.
Additional officers include Akanmu Ajoke (Treasurer), Alhaji Adesanya Aderemi (Financial Secretary), Comrade Ojo Oluwole (Publicity Secretary), Omolara Amoo Fasilat (Women Leader), Onitiju Felicia (Organising Secretary), and Babawale Ogundiran (Youth Leader).
Others are Ogunyemi Ademidun (Auditor I), Omisakin Yemisi (Auditor II), Chief Dapo Omojaro (Legal Adviser I), Alhaji Adeoye Mukaila (Legal Adviser II), Bakare Olufunke E. (Assistant Financial Secretary), Odeyemi Olukunle (Assistant Publicity Secretary), and Asifat Adijat (Assistant Women Leader).
The ex-officio members include Mrs Christianah Ogunsanya, Fariola Yekinnin, Soji Otemuyiwa, and Abiola Edward, while Chief Ogunsanya Gabriel Emiola was named Coordinator, Liaison Services.
The inauguration signals a new phase for AFAN in Osun State, with expectations that the new leadership will build on existing efforts to improve agricultural productivity and enhance farmers’ welfare across the state.
