The lingering controversy surrounding the Alaye of Ilaye-Ijesa royal stool in Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State has been resolved following the intervention of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.
The dispute had earlier prompted a traditional leader in Ilaye-Ijesa, High Chief Simeon Olaleye Oginni, to petition the paramount ruler over alleged usurpation of his traditional authority.
The matter was reportedly settled on Saturday, May 23, 2026, during deliberations held at the ancient palace in Okemese, bringing an end to tensions surrounding the Alaye-Ijesa chieftaincy stool.
Following the resolution, the Alaye-in-Council and the entire Alaye Chieftaincy Family of Ijesaland issued an appreciation message to the monarch, praising his wisdom, fairness, and commitment to peace and justice across Ijesaland.
In a statement signed by Pastor Oluwole Kehinde Johnson on behalf of the Alaye-in-Council, the group commended the monarch for what it described as his “fatherly love, wisdom, and commitment to justice and unity.”
The council noted that the decisive intervention of the royal father restored the Alaye Chieftaincy to its rightful place, describing the move as a demonstration of his dedication to preserving tradition and protecting the dignity of Ijesa cultural heritage.
The statement further described the monarch as a true custodian of Ijesa culture whose reign continues to foster peace, honour, and renewed hope throughout Ijesaland.
The council also prayed for long life, sound health, and a peaceful reign for the Owa Obokun, expressing confidence that Ijesaland would continue to flourish under his leadership.
