EFCC Reinvites Osun Accountant-General Over Alleged N30bn Stadium Contract Scandal..• Sources Allege Contract Was Awarded Without State Executive Council Approval.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly reinvited the Osun State Accountant-General, Mr. Rasheed Olalere Alabi, for further questioning over alleged financial irregularities linked to the controversial N30 billion Osogbo City Stadium reconstruction project.

Sources familiar with the investigation disclosed that the Accountant-General has been directed to appear before EFCC operatives on Monday as the anti-graft agency intensifies its probe into the contract award process and related financial transactions.

According to insiders, investigators are examining allegations that the stadium reconstruction contract was awarded without the approval of the Osun State Executive Council, a development said to have raised concerns over due process and compliance with procurement regulations.

The EFCC is also reportedly probing the circumstances surrounding the award of the project to Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Company, the same firm said to have handled the construction of the sports complex at Adeleke University, Ede.

The latest development comes amid an ongoing investigation involving several top officials of the Osun State Government over alleged financial misconduct.

Some senior government officials, including the Chief of Staff to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, had earlier been reportedly interrogated by the commission over allegations bordering on payroll fraud, ecological fund management, local government allocations, and TETFUND-related contracts.

Investigators are said to be examining allegations connected to the handling of about N12 billion ecological funds, over N100 billion local government allocations, and projects allegedly linked to Akinkas Interbiz Limited, a company reportedly associated with Akinleye.

The investigation also follows claims by Sally Tibbot, a tax audit firm, which alleged that the Osun State Government had been paying approximately N13.7 billion annually to ghost workers since 2023, amounting to over N40 billion within three years.

Multiple sources within government circles claimed that the renewed EFCC action has created tension within the administration, amid fears that the widening investigation could extend to other influential figures linked to the government.

Insiders further alleged that close associates and relatives of Governor Ademola Adeleke, including Mrs. Dupe Adeleke-Sanni and billionaire businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke, father of music star Davido, may also come under scrutiny as investigations progress.

The sources alleged that the duo wield considerable influence within the current administration, although no official allegations have been publicly established against them by the EFCC.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Osun State Government nor the EFCC had issued an official statement regarding the reported reinvitation of the Accountant-General or the wider allegations under investigation.
