Accord Leadership Crisis: Imumolen Faction Warns Adeleke of Possible Legal, Political Battle

‎The Prof. Chris Imumolen-led faction of the Accord Party has warned Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to brace for a possible legal and political battle arising from the party’s lingering leadership crisis.

The faction, in a statement on the internal dispute rocking the Accord Party, said the controversy between its group and the faction led by Maxwell Mgbudem could have significant legal and political implications for the platform under which Governor Adeleke contested the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

‎The Imumolen-led group maintained that the outcome of the election at the polling booths may not necessarily settle the broader legal questions surrounding the party’s leadership and representation.

‎“The ballot may produce a winner, but the court will determine the legal consequences,” the faction warned.

‎The statement comes amid the continuing dispute over the leadership and control of the Accord Party, with rival factions laying claim to legitimacy within the political organisation.

‎The Imumolen faction suggested that the dispute could potentially extend beyond internal party politics and become a matter of legal consequence for political actors who contested elections under the Accord platform.

Adeleke’s Support for Tinubu Questioned

‎The faction also raised questions over Governor Adeleke’s recent posture towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suggesting that the governor’s support for the President could be partly motivated by the unfolding crisis within the Accord Party.

‎It questioned whether Adeleke’s alignment with the President was a strategic attempt to insulate himself from the potential political consequences of the party’s leadership dispute.

‎The faction, however, did not provide evidence to establish that the governor’s relationship with President Tinubu was directly connected to the Accord leadership crisis.

‎The development adds another dimension to the political situation surrounding Governor Adeleke following the governorship election, as competing interests within the Accord Party continue to battle over the party’s leadership and legal standing.

‎The Imumolen-led faction's warning indicates that the dispute may not be ending with the conclusion of the election, with the possibility of further legal proceedings remaining on the table.

‎For now, attention is expected to remain focused on the courts and relevant electoral and political authorities as the rival factions seek to establish which group has legitimate control of the Accord Party.

KAKAKIOODUA Online Media will continue to monitor developments surrounding the Accord Party leadership crisis and its possible implications for Governor Adeleke and the wider political landscape in Osun State.
