The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to protect all materials used during the August 15 governorship election from any form of tampering.
The party made the call in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The APC alleged that there were efforts by some persons linked to the Accord Party to interfere with the used election materials ahead of a planned forensic examination.
The party said it had received information suggesting that some individuals were attempting to tamper with the materials in INEC's custody.
The APC also referred to videos circulating on social media which, according to the party, showed alleged electoral irregularities in some polling units and wards across the state during the election.
It alleged that figures recorded on ballot papers were manipulated in favour of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
However, these allegations have not been independently verified by KAKAKIOODUA Online Media.
The APC urged INEC to ensure that all election materials remain secure and untouched so that they can be properly examined if the party proceeds with its planned forensic review.
The party also called on the Osun State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action against anyone found attempting to interfere with election materials.
The APC recalled that its Governorship Campaign Director-General, Hon. Wole Oke, had earlier stated that the party would subject the used INEC election documents to forensic examination.
According to the party, the exercise would help determine the authenticity of the results declared in the election.
The APC questioned why anyone would allegedly attempt to alter election materials if the election victory claimed by Governor Adeleke was genuine and convincing.
The party further described the alleged attempt to interfere with election materials as a serious matter that should be investigated by the relevant authorities.
It said the outcome of the election should be based on the actual votes cast by the people and not on any attempt to alter electoral records.
The APC maintained that it would pursue the matter through lawful means and use the appropriate legal channels to challenge any irregularities it believes occurred during the election.
The party said the matter could eventually be presented before the election tribunal for proper determination.
The statement urged INEC, security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure that the integrity of all election materials is preserved pending any legal or forensic examination.
The APC said protecting the materials would help ensure that any dispute arising from the election could be resolved based on facts and credible evidence.
The statement was signed by Mogaji Kola Olabisi, Osun State APC Director of Media and Information.
