The 2026 Osun State Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while calling for an end to post-election violence, intimidation and attacks across the state.
Oyebamiji made the call on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Osogbo, while addressing leaders, members and supporters of the APC on the outcome of the governorship election and the party's preparations for the 2027 general election.
The APC governorship candidate expressed profound appreciation to members and supporters of the party for their sacrifices, commitment and steadfast belief in his aspiration and the party's Prosperity Agenda throughout the 2026 electioneering process.
He particularly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his support before, during and after the governorship election, while also acknowledging the guidance and support of former Osun State Governor and APC elder, His Excellency, Baba Bisi Akande, CFR.
Oyebamiji equally praised the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, for his leadership and contribution to repositioning the APC in Osun State.
According to him, the party has become stronger and better positioned than it was several years ago as a result of sustained efforts to strengthen its structures and unite its members.
Recalling his journey to the 2026 governorship election, Oyebamiji said he declared his intention to seek the APC governorship ticket towards the end of 2025 after extensive consultations with party members, stakeholders and critical interests across the state.
He noted that his emergence as the APC governorship candidate in December 2025 provided an opportunity for different tendencies within the party to put aside their differences and unite behind the collective objective of securing victory for the party.
Oyebamiji said the campaign subsequently traversed communities across Osun State, presenting the Prosperity Agenda to civil servants, retirees, artisans, students, youths, entrepreneurs, women, professionals, sports stakeholders, persons living with disabilities and religious organisations.
He described the campaign as one driven by hope, inclusion and a commitment to building a more prosperous Osun State.
However, the APC candidate expressed deep pain over what he described as "unwarranted violence" perpetrated before, during and particularly after the August 15 governorship election.
He alleged that the violence was intended to intimidate APC members and supporters, but commended them for remaining courageous and exercising their constitutional rights.
Oyebamiji specifically recalled the killings of Hon. Remi Abass, former Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, in Ikire; Chief Gbenga Ogbara, Chairman of the APC in Atakumosa Local Government Area; Mr Dele Ayegbo, nephew of Hon. Wole Oke, Director-General of the APC 2026 Governorship Campaign Council; as well as more than 35 other victims.
He called on the Nigeria Police Force to thoroughly investigate the reported killings and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
He also condoled with families who lost their loved ones to political violence, assuring them that they would not be abandoned.
While marking the 35th anniversary of the creation of Osun State, Oyebamiji congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory as declared by INEC.
He, however, charged the Governor, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to exercise his constitutional responsibilities by protecting the lives and property of all residents, particularly during the sensitive post-election period.
"The senseless killings, harassment and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith," Oyebamiji said.
He further expressed concern over reported attacks on small and medium-sized businesses allegedly based on the perceived political affiliations of their owners or their alleged non-allegiance to the Accord Party.
According to him, such attacks are unacceptable in a state seeking economic growth, investment and sustainable employment opportunities.
He stressed that adequate security and a conducive environment for businesses to thrive remained essential to the economic development of Osun State.
On the APC's next political direction, Oyebamiji said the 2026 governorship election had come and gone, but consultations had commenced with party elders, members and other critical stakeholders following the declaration of the results by INEC.
He disclosed that the party would continue to pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means, particularly with respect to the electoral process.
He therefore urged APC members and supporters not to be discouraged by the outcome of the election, but to remain resolute, sustain their faith in democracy and continue to trust the institutions established to protect democratic rights.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general election, Oyebamiji called on APC leaders, members and supporters across Osun State to close ranks, strengthen the party's structures and commence mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the election of other APC candidates.
He urged members to rededicate themselves to the task ahead, stressing the need for unity and coordinated efforts to secure "incontrovertible victories" for the APC in Osun State.
Oyebamiji concluded by saluting the courage, resilience and steadfastness of APC members and supporters, reaffirming his commitment to the Prosperity Agenda.
He said the ultimate objective should be to build an Osun State where collective resources are equitably deployed, opportunities are accessible to all, and governance serves the greater good of the people rather than narrow or clannish interests.
He urged party members to march forward with faith and determination towards a greater Osun State.
