Osun pensioners under the aegis of Contributory Pension Scheme have come out stoutly to expose the propaganda and false narration being peddled by the state government as to the defrayment of pension arrears owed by the Government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

According to the union chairman, Comrade Gbenga Oyadare, during a radio interview monitored in Osogbo, the  Government of Senator Ademola Adeleke had only been able to pay one month pension of the primary school teachers since November 2022 that it was inaugurated.

He stated that, "This administration has been in government for 10 months, they were only able to pay just a month for primary school teachers."

He further stated that, "there is no section of the pensioners that is not being owed presently."

Oyadare bemoaned the snail pace in the payment of the emoluments to the retired civil servants, stressing that if the government did not show more commitment to the welfare of their members by devoting more fund to offset the pension arrears, the current government might even leave the situation worse than it met it.

"If the payment is not improved upon, by the time this government finishes its four years in 2026, there will be another 6 years of unpaid pension," Oyadare submitted dispiritedly.

Recall the union of contributory pensioners had signified their plan to embark on street protests next Monday to make Governor Adeleke fulfil his electoral promises to them, describing the attitude of the government to them as non-challant and wicked, particularly now when the federal allocation accrued to the state in recent months has increased significantly.
