As the Osun APC gears up towards the 2026 governorship elections, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the MD/CEO National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has emerged as the favourite to clinch the ticket of the party for the August 8th, 2026 guber polls.
This was the message today as AMBO Grassrooters, a frontline support group for the actualization of the governorship aspirations of the two term commissioner for finance in the state when the group continued it's statewide sensitization tour with a visit to Ilesa East and West Local Governments respectively to consult with leaders and stakeholders of the party just as the group also inaugurated wards and unit coordinators across both local governments.
Hon. Benson Adekunle, former Chairman Orolu Local Government during his remarks argued that Oyebamiji, considering his competence, intellectual capacity, love for the party's growth and welfare of her members remains the best to lead the APC into the 2026 elections. He noted that AMBO is loved by all and he is optimistic that the love would translate into massive votes for him if he emerges as the candidate of the party in the August 8th, 2026 elections.
Hon. Akeem Olowoopejobori, a former Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government affirmed that Ilesa East remains the bedrock of progressive politics in Osun as the leaders of the party in Ilesa East have proven their commitment and loyalty to the party at various times even in the face of oppression. He praised Oyebamiji for standing by the party and providing leadership at all times stating that his commitment to the cause of the reinstated local government chairmen across the state remains invaluable.
In the same vein, Hon. Idowu Falade lauded the leader of the party, HE Adegboyega Oyetola CON, the honourable minister for Marine and Blue Economy for his undying support to the party at all times. He reiterated the support of the local government for the aspirations of Oyebamiji just as he praised him for the significant roles he played in stabilizing the state economically during his terms as finance commissioner. He noted that through AMBO's ingenuity and administrative prowess the state's IGR under Oyetola was boosted from a meagre 3billion naira annually to a staggering 24billion naira. He noted that same feat was achieved with OSICOL where the revenue growth moved from 300million naira to 6 billion naira while he served as managing director between.
Hon. Mrs. Bisi affirmed the support of the women folk in Ilesa East for Oyebamiji pledging a substantial vote number that would lead AMBO and the APC back to power in 2026.
In Ilesa West Local Government where the team arrived to a rousing welcome, Hon. Princess Abosede Agbadaoje, the party chairperson in Ilesa West LGA during her short remark lauded Oyebamiji for playing a significant role in the reinstatement of Osun APC duly elected local government Chairmen and Councillors. She hailed the ex-commissioner for giving his best to the state while serving as the commissioner for finance, this she said has resulted to the financial stability of the state, just as Hon. Segun Olabode, Chairman Ilesa West Local Government, hailed Oyebamiji for his deep connection to the grassroot and his loyalty to the party. He further praised Oyebamiji for playing a significant role in the economic rejuvenation of Osun stating that the state's financial records during Oyebamiji's stint as finance commissioner remains unmatched and exemplary.
Engr. Maaroof Ogundipe in his remarks on behalf of AMBO Grassrooters reiterated that AMBO is a deep rooted progressive who understands and promotes the progressive ideals. He further stated that Oyebamiji is a selfless leader whose records of achievements in previous roles as MD OSICOL, Osun Finance Commissioner and now as MD/CEO National Inland Waterways Authority distinguishes him as the right peg in the right hole. He affirmed the group's conviction that the APC's pathway to electoral victory in the August 8th, 2026 guber polls is Oyebamiji, a man who is overwhelmingly popular, competent and possess the desired patriotism to lead Osun to the path of greatness and economic prosperity. He urged leaders and members of the party in Ilesa West to support the aspirations of Oyebamiji with the conviction that he would serve in the best interest of the All Progressive Congress and Osun state citizens.
Former member House of Representatives, Hon. Lawrence Ayeni urged for a peaceful campaigns that would lead to the emergence of the party's candidate stating that Asiwaju Oyebamiji remains the most preferred aspirant in the APC. He highlighted the leadership qualities of Oyebamiji noting that the Ikire-Born politician is a man blessed with professional and political intelligence, humility and selflessness. He tasked party faithfuls to give their support to Oyebamiji and take his campaigns of hope and economic rejuvenation to every the nooks and crannies of Ilesa West LGA.
