Ilesa metropolis, Osun state, witnessed inflow of notable personalities who came to felicitate with the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi as he celebrated the grand finale of the 9-day scheduled events for his 70th birthday.
At church thanksgiving service directed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Adebola Ayodeji Ojofehitimi, the Diocesan Bishop of the Ilesa South-West Diocese of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion with not less than six other bishops in attendance at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, Omofe, the preacher, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Asaju, the Diocesan of Ilesa Diocese Anglican Communion in a sermon titled "Living the Christian Exemplary Life" thanked God that the celebrant is useful in the house of God, his community and for his life in the last 70 years.
He said Asiwaju Fasuyi has done well through his contribution to the advancement of Ijesaland and to the country at large.
Highpoint of the birthday service was the thanksgiving dance to the alter amidst excitement and jubilation.
The event later shifted to the reception ground at the Zenabab Half Moon Holiday Resort, Ijebu-Jesa road, Ilesa, where guests had a good time as they rally round the celebrant.
Some personalities that grace the occasion extended their heartfelt commendations for Asiwaju Fasuyi's visionary leadership.
At the reception Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland expressed his admiration for the celebrant and that he made it to the reception, his very tight schedule for the day notwithstanding, to show his deep love and endorsement of all things the celebrant is doing in Ijesaland.
The Owa of Ijesaland expressed his support for Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi's potential future political ambitions (if any), stating he would back him if he decides to run for senator or governor.
Owa Haastrup urged critics to stop opposing Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi and instead to join hands with him to develop Ijesaland, dismissing inferiority complex and gossip as he defends Asiwaju's character, describing him as honest and revealed that he once had a tete-a-tete discussion with him on the type of criticisms he received from his critics.
Earlier, the Chairman at the Reception Party where the legendary Ebenezer Obey was at the bandstand, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, attested to the celebrant's meticulous dedication to duty and ethics as he commended his commitment to principles prioritizing responsibilities over his personal gain.
