‎WorkTeck Initiative Takes Off in Osun Schools as Govt, AHSOSA 73-78 Set Partner to Launch Program (PHOTOS ) ‎






‎The Atakumosa High School Osu, Osun State, Old Students Association, (AHSOSA), 1973-78 set on Wednesday took the bull by the horns in the area of thinking ahead on employability as a fundamental and indispensable component of education by supporting Prince Biodun Lufadeju, one the alumnus initiative at creating an educational curriculum that chart a new course designed to make the education content more functional where 62 Osun public secondary schools have been selected to be in the first phase of the program.






The Workteck flag-off, a perfect program to achieve the new Federal Government's curriculum on youth employment and skills acquisition was organized in conjunction with the Osun State Ministry of Education and Prince Abiodun Lufadeju the initiator of the Worktech Project.





‎The event witnessed by Permanent Secretary, Osun Ministry of Education Mr. M. A. Jimoh, the management of TESCOM, the Tutor General /Executive Secretary of ljesa Zone, Directors, Zonal Inspector of Education, Local Inspector of Education, State, Zonal and Units ANCOPSS Chairpersons,  NUT Osun Chapter representatives, Principals, Educators. Parents, Students and a good number of the members of 1978 Set of the Old Students, is designed to be used for the Osun secondary schools students to help school leavers find their feet in the competitive world of work. 




‎The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Osun State, Mr. M. A. K. Jimoh remarked that the students of Atakumosa High School are not only lucky but they are blessed to have the Workteck program in their school. He advised the students to make the best of the opportunity as he commended Prince Biodun Lufadeju for his vision, He also reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Education to the Workteck program . Describing it as a very creative approach to preparing the young ones for employment after leaving school.



‎The Chairman, 1973/78 AHSO Set, Mr. Jackson Okpako Onyenwenu, in his welcome address said that the occasion embodies the spirit of giving back and nurturing the academic environment that shaped the old students into who they are today.

‎"As we gather to celebrate the presentation of books for the project ‎Workteck to our alma mater, we hope to inspire future generations of students to strive for excellence and make the most of the opportunities available to them. We believe that these resources will enrich their academic experience and broaden their horizons." He said 


‎Mrs. Awe, the Spokesperson for the Gallant 73/78 set appreciated the Osun State Ministry of Education for taking the bold step of assessing and approving the intervention to be adopted by the entire school system in Osun State. Also by making  Atakunmosa High School, Osu the kickstarting point of the laudable program.

‎"What we are doing today is to give our support to this initiative as the new way to go. Sort of charting a new course of developing our children to have a frame of mind that can enhance their capability to compete effectively and win in the new world of work they will be graduating to." She said 


‎The AHSOSA National President, Chief  Alhaji Lateef Bakare, Ajirowa Adimula of Ijesaland also commended the nature of the Workteck program as a paradigm shift concept of the innovative and creative mind of the initiator and promoter, Prince Abiodun Lufadeju who is an old student of the school. 

‎"In 3 years time the 73/78 set will be 50 years of leaving the school and this is the first program you're initiating, I use this medium to charge your President to keep this group together to form network for mutual benefits." Ajirowa Lateef Bakare said



Comrade O. O. Odedele, Principal, Atakunmosa High School, Osu in his address showed his delight at being the pioneer the programme, conceptualized, to expose students to Vocational skills.

‎"I wish to salute the resilience, courage and determination of our own Prince Abiodun Lufadeju, the brain behind the WorkTeck Project, We commend your foresight.

‎"To our students, I would say you are lucky to have gotten the opportunity of attending this school. I will enjoin you all to take full advantage of this project and make the most of the skills and knowledge as I reiterate our commitment to providing quality education and empowering our students for a brighter future." He said



‎Prince Biodun Lufadeju in his address, appreciated the Osun State government for it's openness to innovative ideas that could help the State's education content more Functional as he remarked that the flag-off ceremony of the WorkTeck Programme is a paradigm shift from Traditional Education to the more result yielding Functional Education.  

‎"The initiative was developed to prepare youth for the job market through training them on employability skills that are complement to character traits, interpersonal skills and personal interest, noting that at the present day labor market, there are shortcomings in graduate employability and mismatches exist between the educational qualifications of graduates and the job requirements they face." He said 






‎The highlights of the event also included distribution of WorkTech Handbooks to the students, commissioning of a Tools Room, Arts and Crafts Centre and an Ideas Laboratory.
