"Methodist High School, Ilesa is a school to beat in Osun", Govt. says as OSAMETHSI Marks 70th Anniversary with Courtesy Visits to State Officials

Activities marking the 70th Anniversary celebration of Methodist High School, Ilesa continued on Tuesday with a series of high-level courtesy visits led by the National President of the Old Students Association, Arc. Gbenga Akintola.

The visitation team, made up of members of the National Executive, Planning Committee, and other notable alumni, paid official visits to key government offices in Osun State. These included the Office of the Governor, the Ministry of Education, the Osun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

The delegation was warmly received by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Sunday Adedipo Eluwole, who represented the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of Osun TESCOM, Comrade Temitope Mustapha Adeyemi, described the engagement as “a wonderful visitation” and commended the alumni body for its strong presence and commitment to educational development in the state.

“This is one of its kind,” Adeyemi said. “Very respected men and women who are the power behind our secondary schools in the state. It is a kind of support for the government of Osun State, and we really welcome that. We look forward to more of these visitations so that we can rub minds together.”

He further noted that Methodist High School, Ilesa remains one of the pioneer secondary schools in Osun State, adding that the 70-year milestone is a testament to the school’s enduring legacy.

“We cannot have all secondary schools like Methodist High School, Ilesa,” he stated. “This school is 70 years old and it is one of the pioneer secondary schools in Osun State. I attended another 70th anniversary celebration last week, but we cannot compare it with this because the organisation is superb. The calibre of people running its affairs is commendable.”

Adeyemi praised the Old Students Association for demonstrating respect for the current administration and for consistently supporting government efforts in education.

“The school will be one to beat in the state because of the work they have been putting on ground in supporting the government,” he added.

Meanwhile, the anniversary celebration is set to continue into its third day with a lineup of impactful programmes including a seminar for teachers, free medical check-ups, and inspirational talks for students focused on success in life and career development.
