In a move aimed at enhancing security coordination across the local government, the Executive Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government, Hon. Lanre Balogun, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, convened a strategic meeting with key security stakeholders at his office in the Local Secretariat, Iyemogun.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Kofo Omole, and the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Johnson Komolafe.
Top security agencies present included representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Discussions reportedly centered on strengthening intelligence sharing, proactive crime prevention, and improved collaboration among security agencies within the council area.
According to sources at the meeting, plans are underway to broaden participation in subsequent engagements to ensure a more inclusive security framework. Proposed additions include the Nigerian Correctional Service (Prison), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Immigration Service, as well as representatives of the League of Imams and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Market and community stakeholders are also expected to be incorporated into future meetings, including the Iyaloja, Babaloja, and youth representatives, in order to foster grassroots participation in security management.
The initiative underscores the local government’s commitment to a multi-stakeholder approach in addressing security concerns and maintaining peace and order across Ilesa East.
