APC Raises Alarm Over Alleged Violence Plot in Osun, Mentions Davido in Security Petition

The Osun State Governorship Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of allegedly importing thugs and criminal elements into parts of the state ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the council alleged that suspected hoodlums were being mobilized into Osogbo, Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Iwo and Okuku with the intention of attacking members and supporters of the APC and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

The statement, signed by Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, further accused popular singer Davido of being involved in what it described as a “clandestine and dangerous plot” to destabilize Osun State in support of Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.

According to the APC campaign council, Davido should focus on his music career and ensure that any political support for his uncle is carried out within the confines of the law and democratic principles.

The opposition party warned against any attempt to turn Osun State into “a theatre of violence” due to political desperation, insisting that the state must remain peaceful before, during and after the election.

The council also alleged that over 30 APC members were killed during politically motivated attacks linked to the 2022 and 2023 election periods, stating that such incidents must not be repeated in the state.

Consequently, the APC campaign council called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to investigate the allegations and prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The party also appealed to the National Security Adviser to intervene and ensure that the political atmosphere in Osun State remains peaceful.

“Osun people deserve peace, credible elections and a secure environment to freely exercise their democratic rights without intimidation, coercion or fear,” the statement added.
