The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) has announced the passing of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, who joined his ancestors on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Chairman of ICDA, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, the revered monarch was described as a symbol of unity, cultural preservation, and progressive leadership within Esa-Oke and the wider Ijesaland.
According to the statement, the late Oba Adediran was more than a traditional ruler, serving as a custodian of culture and a bridge between tradition and modernity. His reign was noted for its dignity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and development in his domain.
“Kabiyesi was a monarch of quiet strength and thoughtful leadership, whose presence brought stability and reassurance in times of communal challenges,” the statement read.
The ICDA highlighted the late monarch’s contributions beyond the palace, noting his support for initiatives that promoted education, social harmony, and community development in Esa-Oke. His leadership was credited with fostering cohesion and reinforcing the relevance of traditional institutions in contemporary society.
The Assembly described his passing as a significant loss not only to Esa-Oke but to the entire Ijesaland, which benefited from his counsel and statesmanship.
Condolences were extended to the royal family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, and the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, as well as sons and daughters of the region at home and in the diaspora.
The ICDA prayed for strength for all affected by the loss and for the repose of the monarch’s soul.
Oba Adeyemi Adediran’s legacy, the statement added, will endure through the values of peace, unity, and cultural pride he upheld throughout his reign.
