The Alaye of Ilaye-Ijesa and members of his family have formally appealed to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, for approval to install a new Aoro in the community, citing alleged disrespect, neglect of traditional obligations, and growing dissatisfaction among residents.
In a letter addressed to the monarch, the Alaye expressed warm greetings and prayers for the peaceful and successful reign of the royal father, while also raising concerns over the conduct of the current Aoro.
According to the letter, the Alaye maintained that the traditional authority to install an Aoro in Ilaye-Ijesa rests solely with him. He accused the current holder of the title of failing to accord him due respect and allegiance, including allegedly refusing to pay homage and neglecting established traditional responsibilities.
The petition further claimed that many residents of Ilaye community are dissatisfied with the leadership style of the current Aoro, warning that continued tension within the town could hinder peace, unity, and development.
The Alaye therefore appealed to the monarch to grant approval for the appointment of another Aoro whom he said would help restore harmony, stability, and progress in the community.
The letter concluded with prayers for the continued prosperity, wisdom, and peaceful reign of the Owa Obokun over Ijesaland.
