The Federal Road Safety Corps, RS11.12 Ilesa Unit Command, on Monday organized a mega road safety rally across Ilesa metropolis as part of activities marking the commencement of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir Special Patrol Operations.
The exercise, which was aimed at promoting safer roads and ensuring hitch-free vehicular movement during the festive season, was led by the Unit Commander, Bashir A. Jimoh, alongside officers and men of the Command.
The rally commenced from Ilesa Roundabout and terminated at Exit 4 Junction, traversing major roads, strategic locations, and motor parks within the town.
During the sensitization exercise, FRSC officials preached road safety messages to motorists, commercial drivers, motorcyclists, passengers, and other road users, stressing the importance of safety consciousness as the Eid-el-Kabir celebration approaches.
The team warned against speeding, dangerous driving, route violations, overloading, drunk driving, and wrongful overtaking, while urging motorists to comply strictly with traffic regulations to prevent avoidable road crashes during the festive period.
At the motorcycle park located at Ilesa Roundabout, the Unit Commander personally addressed commercial motorcyclists on the importance of obeying traffic rules, wearing safety helmets, and avoiding reckless riding.
The campaign train also visited the Korope mini-bus park and the Akure/Ilesa motor park, where drivers and passengers received enlightenment on defensive driving, proper vehicle maintenance, avoidance of night journeys, and the need to cooperate with FRSC personnel in ensuring safer roads.
As part of the public enlightenment campaign, flyers containing road safety tips and safety inscriptions were distributed to motorists and members of the public throughout the rally.
Motorists and transport operators who reacted to the initiative commended the FRSC for its proactive efforts at reducing road traffic crashes during the festive season, urging the Corps to sustain its sensitization and enforcement activities.
The event also attracted media coverage from major radio stations and other media organizations, helping to widen public awareness of the campaign.
The Command described the rally as peaceful, successful, and impactful, noting that it further strengthened public preparedness toward achieving an accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration within its area of jurisdiction.
