The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of engaging in self-vandalism and diversionary politics following allegations that opposition supporters destroyed campaign billboards belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of Media and Publicity Committee of the campaign council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, the APC dismissed claims credited to the Imole Campaign Council that APC supporters were behind the destruction of Governor Adeleke’s campaign materials across the state.
The opposition party described the allegation as “false, baseless and desperate,” insisting that it was instead the campaign billboards and promotional materials of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), that had allegedly suffered repeated destruction by political thugs linked to the state government and its allies.
According to the statement, the alleged vandalism claims were part of attempts by the current administration to divert public attention from growing allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement within the Adeleke government.
The APC further referenced recent reports alleging the arrest and detention of top officials of the Osun State Government, including the Chief of Staff to Governor Adeleke, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, and the Accountant-General of the state, Mr. Rasheed Olalere Alabi, over alleged financial improprieties.
The party claimed the officials were being investigated over the alleged mismanagement of federal allocations and special intervention funds received by the state within the last three years.
Among the allegations highlighted by the APC were the purported diversion of a N14.9 billion ecological fund meant for victims of floods and rainstorms, an alleged diversion of a N2 billion Federal Government grant intended for the procurement of buses, and claims of misappropriation of over N100 billion belonging to local governments in Osun State.
The opposition party argued that the allegations had generated public anger, especially when compared with what it described as achievements of APC-led local governments, including the recent distribution of over 300 motorcycles and procurement of 90 Hilux vehicles for security agencies across the state.
The statement further alleged that the Adeleke administration had failed to match such interventions despite reportedly receiving substantial security votes.
The APC maintained that residents of Osun State were no longer deceived by what it called “cheap propaganda and theatrics,” adding that the electorate would have the opportunity to make their decision during the August 15 governorship election.
The party also disclosed that relevant security agencies had been briefed regarding the alleged false accusations and expressed hope that appropriate actions would be taken promptly.
The statement was signed by Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye on behalf of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council and dated May 8, 2026.
