Police Dismiss B-Red Assassination Claim as APC Accuses Ademola Adeleke of Spreading Falsehood

‎The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke following the police dismissal of an alleged assassination attempt on his son, Adebayo Adeleke.

‎In a press statement issued on Sunday, the party accused the Adeleke-led administration of spreading misinformation to gain public sympathy, describing the development as a reflection of what it termed declining political credibility.

‎The controversy stems from an earlier claim that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt allegedly linked to Kazeem Oyewale, a member of the APC in the state. The allegation, which gained traction in some media reports, was subsequently denied by Oyewale.

‎However, the Nigeria Police Force, through its Osun State Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, dismissed the report after an investigation, describing it as “false, unverified, and capable of causing unnecessary tension and panic among the public.”

‎Reacting to the police position, the APC maintained that the incident exposed what it called the government’s reliance on “falsehood and subterfuge.” The party argued that the dissemination of the claim without proper verification contributed to misinformation and could damage reputations.

‎The opposition party further questioned the implications of the allegation on Oyewale’s public image, insisting that the claims were unfounded and injurious.

‎While commending the police for what it described as a thorough investigation, the APC also suggested that legal action could be pursued over the matter, noting that constitutional immunity does not extend to individuals outside the office of the governor.

‎The statement also criticised officials within the state government, particularly those responsible for information management, accusing them of misleading the public.

‎Looking ahead, the APC expressed confidence in its governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, stating that no amount of alleged misinformation would hinder its electoral prospects.

‎The Osun State Government has yet to issue an official response to the APC’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
