‎Osun APC Accuses Adeleke Administration of Concealing Financial Records, Alleges Secret ₦42bn Loan ‎

‎The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of violating the state's Fiscal Responsibility Law by allegedly failing to publish key financial reports and concealing the true state of Osun's finances.

‎In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of its Media and Publicity Committee, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, the campaign council alleged that the state government had failed to release the First Quarter (Q1) 2026 Budget Implementation Report despite the expiration of the statutory deadline prescribed by the Osun State Fiscal Responsibility Law, 2012.

‎According to the APC, Section 46 of the law requires the government to publish a summarized report on budget implementation within 30 days after the end of each quarter, arguing that the Q1 report should have been made public by the end of April 2026.

‎The opposition party described the delay as a serious breach of transparency and accountability, alleging that the absence of the report had fueled public concerns over the state's financial management.

‎The campaign council also alleged that the Adeleke administration had yet to publish the audited accounts for the 2025 financial year, contrary to Section 45(1) of the Fiscal Responsibility Law, which requires such accounts to be made public within six months after the end of the financial year.

‎According to the statement, the failure to publish both reports has prevented citizens from accessing information on the state's internally generated revenue, federal allocations, recurrent and capital expenditures, and other financial activities.

‎The APC further alleged that the state government had secretly secured commercial loans amounting to about ₦42 billion since the beginning of 2026 through monthly borrowings of approximately ₦7 billion. The campaign council claimed the funds were being accumulated for political purposes ahead of the forthcoming governorship election. However, it did not provide documentary evidence to support the allegation.

‎The statement also referenced the reported detention of the state's Accountant-General, Rasheed Olalere Alabi, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Kazeem Akinleye, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial transactions, suggesting that the government's refusal to publish the financial reports had intensified public suspicion.

‎The APC Campaign Council called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to immediately release the outstanding Q1 2026 Budget Implementation Report and the 2025 Audited Financial Statements, urging civil society organisations, professional bodies, the media and other stakeholders to demand compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Law.

‎As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government had not issued a response to the allegations contained in the APC Campaign Council's statement.
