UBEC, Osun Train School Based Management Commitee Members On Quality Education Delivery In Schools




 



The Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa has called on School Based Management Committee members (SBMC) to ensure quality education delivery in their various Schools.




Hon Ajibola stated this in a speech delivered at a 3-day cluster training workshop in Osogbo, organized by Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja in collaboration with Osun Universal Basic Education Board.


The workshop is  going on concurrently in the three Senatorial Districts of Osun  for School Based Management Committee Chairmen, Secretaries as well as Treasurers in Public Primary Schools across the State.


The SUBEB Boss noted that School Based Management Committee has been globally accepted by all education stakeholders as a veritable channel to promote ideal school governance.


Hon. Famurewa said the present administration in the State of Osun, under the leadership of Governor Adegboya Oyetola, is passionate about education, urging the participants to also give  maximum support to the development of the State educational system by performing their duties effectively and efficiently.


The Chairman  implored the participants to pay rapt attention to the  training in order to boost their capacity for optimum delivery in their duty stations.


In his further explanation on the importance of the training workshop, Famurewa said: "We must always remember that, as a nation, Nigeria has a lot of educational gaps to fill at the levels of access quality, inclusion and relevance. We have to wake up and the time is now. I believe no one can do it other than us"




Earlier In his welcome address , the Executive Secretary, SUBEB, Osun, Mr Adeoye Bakare thanked  the national umbrella body of the Commission,UBEC for its support over the years.

    

Mr Bakare also lauded  Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for ensuring that the training workshop became a reality.

      

The SUBEB Scribe similarly enjoined the participants to wholeheartedly embrace and make judicious of the knowledge acquired at the training workshop, saying that it is a refresher course to further strengthen the capacity on school project implementation modalities.

    


              

In her remarks, a UBEC Officer, Alhaja Sidikat Shomope noted the importance of the training workshop is to enhance access quality and equity on basic eduction delivery in Nigeria.


Shomope disclosed that the training opportunity has been given to a total of 1467 selected schools, including the Federal Capital territory and benefiting Communities across 36 States of the Nigeria.


She however urged the project implementers, who are the participants, to effectively execute the 31 designated projects given to the State of Osun in their domains, noting that the critical aspect of SBMC implementation process is aimed at building and enhancing the capacity of the grassroot implementers in their various local government areas


Responding on behalf the participants, Mr Olaniyan Ajaoo, thanked the management of Osun SUBEB and UBEC for the rare opportunity given to them to serve in their various capacities,  promising that they will give maximum support to State SUBEB and UBEC .
