IBEDC Explains Power Cuts in Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Ibadan, Osun... Assures Fair Load Allocation Amid Ongoing Intermittency

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has issued a public notice explaining the intermittent supply and extended outages affecting customers across its franchise, which includes Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Ibadan and Osun states.

In the statement, IBEDC said the disruptions are the result of a reduction in load allocation from the national grid, limiting the amount of electricity the company can distribute. “We sincerely regret the inconvenience this has caused our customers,” the notice read.

The utility said it is actively engaging the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigeria Independent System Operator (NISO) to restore stability. In the meantime, IBEDC is “strategically allocating and equitably distributing” the available load across feeders and service bands to ensure fairness and operational efficiency.

Management signed the announcement, urging customers to remain patient as the situation evolves and promising to keep the public informed of any developments.
