The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised the reinstated local government council chairmen for embarking on the grading of 1,050 kilometres of roads across the state, describing the initiative as a commendable step toward grassroots development.
In a press statement issued on April 8, 2026, the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said the project, which involves grading 35 kilometres of roads in each local government area, reflects a commitment to equitable development across Osun.
The APC noted that the initiative marks a departure from what it described as the lopsided infrastructural development under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleging that the state government has concentrated major road projects in Ede, the governor’s hometown.
According to the statement, the grading exercise by the Court of Appeal-reinstated council executives is aimed at addressing long-standing neglect in rural communities and improving access across various parts of the state.
The party further alleged that while the state government claims to be executing road projects in towns such as Ile-Ife, Iwo, Ilesa, and Ila-Orangun, the level of commitment to those projects does not match the scale of development in Ede.
APC also accused political actors aligned with the Accord Party of attempting to discredit the council chairmen by circulating what it described as inflated figures regarding the cost of the road grading exercise.
Despite the criticisms, the party maintained that the efforts of the reinstated council executives have demonstrated proactive governance and exposed gaps in the current state administration’s approach to development.
The statement urged Governor Adeleke and his aides to improve transparency in the management of state resources, including statutory allocations and internally generated revenue.
The APC expressed confidence that its governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, would deliver more balanced development if elected in the August 15, 2026 governorship poll.
