Osun APC Denies Link to Alleged Ilesa Abduction, Says Treasurer Does Not Own Branded Sienna

‎The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations linking its State Treasurer, Hon. Femi Kujembola, to the alleged abduction of two members of the Accord Party in Ilesa, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.

‎In a statement issued on Saturday by the party's Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC said the allegation that the victims were abducted in a branded Toyota Sienna belonging to Kujembola was fabricated.

‎The controversy followed reports of an alleged attack at the Okesa area of Ilesa on Wednesday evening, during which two Accord Party members, Mr. Kasumu Simiyu and Mr. Dagunduro Iyiola, were reportedly assaulted and abducted by unidentified persons. According to the allegations, the attackers operated in a vehicle branded with Kujembola's name.

‎Reacting to the allegation, Kujembola denied owning a Toyota Sienna, insisting that he had never branded such a vehicle.

‎"I do not own a Sienna talk less of branding one. Those making the allegation should produce the vehicle they claimed bears my name," he was quoted as saying.

‎The APC treasurer maintained that violence has never been part of his political activities and argued that democratic politics should be conducted peacefully and within the ambit of the law.

‎He further alleged that recent reports of attacks involving members of the Accord Party were being orchestrated to create negative public perception against the APC ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election. However, he did not provide evidence to support this claim.

‎Kujembola called on the Nigeria Police Force to carry out a thorough investigation into the alleged attacks and prosecute anyone found culpable, regardless of political affiliation.

He also questioned the logic behind claims that individuals intending to carry out criminal acts would use a conspicuously branded vehicle that could easily reveal their identity.

‎The APC, in the statement, accused Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party of engaging in political propaganda aimed at discrediting the opposition before the governorship election. The party further criticized the Adeleke administration's performance, arguing that the governor should focus on governance and his re-election campaign rather than making allegations against political opponents.

‎As of the time of filing this report, the Accord Party had not issued a response to the APC's latest claims, while the police had yet to release the outcome of any investigation into the reported incident.
