The Ekiti State Police Command has announced the rescue of worshippers who were kidnapped during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eda-Oniyo on April 28.
The command confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu.
According to the statement, the victims were rescued after weeks of intelligence-led operations carried out by the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters and the Ekiti State Government.
The police said the rescued victims have been taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment to assess their health and ensure they receive proper medical care.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, praised the commitment and teamwork of all security agencies and stakeholders involved in the operation. He said their cooperation made the successful rescue possible.
He also thanked the Ekiti State Government, led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for its continued support to security agencies, describing it as a key factor in the success of the operation.
The police commissioner appreciated residents of the state for providing useful information and remaining vigilant throughout the rescue efforts.
He assured the public that security operatives have intensified efforts to arrest those behind the abduction and bring them to justice.
