‎Osun APC Accuses Adeleke of Misleading Public Over Alleged Harbouring of Wanted Suspects After IGP's Visit ‎

‎The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its criticism of Governor Ademola Adeleke following the visit of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Olatunji Disu, to the state, accusing the governor of being economical with the truth over allegations that wanted criminal suspects are being harboured within the Government House.

‎In a press statement issued on Saturday and signed by the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the opposition party claimed that the Inspector-General's engagement with political stakeholders ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election brought the lingering political tension in the state into sharper focus.

‎According to the APC, the IGP informed stakeholders that one of the major concerns raised during security briefings by the Osun State Commissioner of Police and the opposition party was the alleged presence of individuals declared wanted by the police within the Government House.

‎The party alleged that Governor Adeleke, while responding to the issue, denied harbouring any wanted suspects and maintained that anyone, including members of his own family, found to have violated the law should be arrested and prosecuted.

‎However, the APC described the governor's response as evasive, insisting that it failed to directly address the allegations.

‎The opposition party further alleged that several individuals it identified as wanted by the police, including Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Wakili Alowonle, Jide Jooda and Solomon Adefioye, also known as Solo Iwara, have been seen in the company of the governor at political and social events.

‎The APC also referenced what it described as a viral video allegedly showing one of the named suspects granting members of his group access to a room within the Government House. It further claimed that photographs exist showing Governor Adeleke and members of his family in the company of some of the individuals mentioned.

‎Based on these claims, the party accused Governor Adeleke of misleading the public, alleging that his administration has consistently relied on "lies, propaganda and subterfuge" since assuming office.

‎Beyond the allegations against the governor, the APC criticised the conduct of supporters of the Accord Party during the IGP's stakeholders' meeting at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo.

‎According to the statement, members of the Accord Party allegedly disrupted the proceedings by booing opposition representatives as well as senior police officers, including the Commissioner of Police and the Police Public Relations Officer.

‎The APC described the conduct as unbecoming and alleged that it reflected the attitude of individuals contributing to the political tension in the state.

‎The opposition party concluded by urging its members and supporters to remain peaceful and continue their political activities through lawful and constitutional means ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

‎Governor Adeleke's administration has repeatedly denied allegations of shielding criminal suspects or interfering with law enforcement, maintaining that his government remains committed to upholding the rule of law.
